Rockman Half Iron Triathlon is set for June 8, 2008. We today were able to confirm a new sprint distance event on Saturday June 7th! This race will be a 400 meter swim, 20km bike, and a 5k run. The sprint race is currently open for registration and we will now have Rockmantri.com fully updated.

New additions for Rockman 08 include sponsorship by Get a Grip bicycles a true triathlon store with the most expertise in the region. Get a Grip was awarded “Top Bicycle Store” by Bicycling Magazine and Michelob Ultra. Also voted as a top 5 in the US fitting shop by Outside Magazine as well as Conde Nast Portfolio.com. The course for RockMan Triathlon will have its epicenter and transitions at Olsen Lake in Rock Cut State Park, Loves Park IL (1 mi North of Rockford proper). The park is one hour from Chicago Ohare airport, less than an hour from Madison / Milwaukee Wi.   To enter the Rockman click the Active.com link on the site - please be sure that you are on the proper event (Sprint or Half Iron).

This sprint distance race is a perfect chance for beginner triathletes to try their first race, or for people who may have done other races with pool swims to experience an open water swim.

 Hammer Nutrition as a huge sponsor of the race will be all over the course. "Heed" will be available pre-swim, on the bike course in 20oz Rockman bottles, as well as on the run course. "Hammer Gel" in many flavors will also be available at all aid stations. "Endurolytes" will be in all race packets - as well as at aid stations on the run. Water will also be available at all aid stations and pre-race. There will also at the aid stations be all the "regulars" - banannas, oranges, pretzels and "flat" Coke.
